Who We Are

Our Founder

The focus of Sharon Love Community Outreach is to empower youth in establishing goals, accessing resources, fostering accountability, and achieving success. My mother provided an impactful and loving environment for her family, and everyone she knew. In honor of her legacy, we will continue to influence youth and families in our community, in a caring and inclusive learning environment.

Our History

Every year, there are over 130,000 outstanding high school students who are academically qualified to attend college or continued education program to earn a degree, trade, and/or certification . Over 80% of them do not apply to even ONE selective college or program, and they remain highly under-represented on college campuses. Sharon Love seeks to provide all students in their program with exposure to various college and career opportunities, as well as tools to successfully accomplish their educational and career goals.

Our Vision

That our members graduate equipped with necessary supports and skill sets to be a productive member of society through higher education and/or the workforce. We strongly support equity and diversity in services, advocacy, and partnerships with schools and our community.

Meet Sharon Harris

Sharon and her husband George’s only son was diagnosed with Autism at the age of three. Upon his diagnosis, she began working with doctors, lawmakers, politicians, other parents with disabled children, and schools to acquire early intervention, inclusion, and specialized services for her son and all individuals with special needs. Sharon and George united with other families and formed a nonprofit to support families of children with special needs. She was a pioneer in changing programming in public schools and inclusion for all students.

Sharon and her husband George Harris both passed away from MD and Cancer within 2 years. Her kids were just 29, 15 and 13 years old. Today, her legacy lives on. Her nonprofit is still active under the Colorado Department of Education. Her youngest daughter became a special education teacher and started a nonprofit to support youth, college/career readiness and neurodiversity in her community. She named the organization Sharon Love Community Outreach.
